Outside Scholarship Opportunities Outside scholarships are scholarships where UAHuntsville does not provide funding and is not involved in the application or recipient selection process. However, the Office of Student Financial Services assists outside scholarship recipients by providing enrollment certifications or invoices upon request of the donor. Checks for outside scholarship awards are processed through this office and should be mailed to the following address: The University of Alabama in Huntsville Below is a list of some outside scholarship opportunities that may be of interest to UAHuntsville students. Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program:  Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with their scholarship program for the 4th year. Applicants submit submit an essay on the following topic: What do you see as the long term impact of our current recession on the average family and how might it affect their future decisions? Click here for further information. ACEC/Alabama Richard A. Groenendyke Scholarship:  The American Council of Engineering Companies of Alabama awards two Richard A. Groenendyke scholarships each year to qualifying engineering students. Click here for further information. AES Engineering Solutions Scholarship:  AES Engineering will be awarding scholarships based on essays submitted by students. The scholarships are open to students from all fields of study. Click here for further information. Army ROTC Scholarship: The U.S. Army offers scholarships to high school graduates attending a four year college program. Applicants must meet academic and physical standards, and agree to serve in the Army on active duty or in a reserve component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard). Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program supports the education of students planning careers as scientists, mathmeticians, or engineers. There will be 6 awards made in Alabama of up to $7500 a year for the junior and/or senior years. Eligible applicants must be current, full-time sophomores or juniors, have at least a B average and be in the top fourth of their class, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanant resident, must demonstrate an definite interest in a research career in mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering, and must intend to pursue a Ph.D. To apply, contact Professor Harry Delugach at 824-6451 or delugach@uah.edu by October 21. BrainTrack Nursing Schools Scholarship:  To help nursing students currently studying to be become a nurse, such as an LPN or RN, or to advance their education as a nurse via associate, bachelor, master, or doctoral degree programs, BrainTrack's Nursing Schools Scholarship offers a winning and second place award every semester. The scholarship essays submitted by entrants are designed to help others consider becoming a nurse or advancing their nursing education and career options. Click here for further information. First in Family Scholarship: The J. Craig and Page T. Smith Scholarship Foundation has designated funding each year to a select number of Alabama students who enroll in Alabama's public or private four-year colleges. Preference is given to students with a record of service to family and community, over grades and exam scores. Click here for further information. The Hundredfold Stipend for Travel Abroad:  The Hundredfold Stipend for Travel Abroad as a Contribution to World Peace enables a student in any field to study in Germany for several weeks during the summer. Health Professions Scholarship Program: The U.S. Army offers one of the most generous and comprehensive scholarships available in health care today – the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HEPSP). If you want to become a physician, dentist, veterinarian, optometrist, clinical or counseling psychologist, and qualify, you could earn a full-tuition scholarship (including books, equipment, and most course fees), plus a monthly stipend of more than $1,907. The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association: The Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association is offering scholarships to anyone interested in pursuing their education in a building industry related field. Click here for further information. Linly Heflin Scholarship: The Linly Heflin Unit is dedicated to furthering the education of young women in Alabama who attend four-year Alabama colleges. Four-year scholarships are available for students who demonstrate financial need and academic proficiency. Click here for further information. Margaret McNamara Memorial Scholarships:  The MMMF was established in 1981 to honor the late Margaret McNamara and her commitment to the well-being of women and children in developing countries. The purpose of the grant is to support the education of women from developing countries who are committed to improving the lives of women and children in their home countries.   Click here for further information. NASA-MUST Scholarship Program: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is sponsoring the Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology (MUST) Program, offering support to undergraduate students from across the United States in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines. Program participants receive a scholarship, NASA internship, mentors, and access to a wealth of professional development opportunities. Click here for further information. The Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship: The Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories and is an opportunity to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion. Talbot's Scholarship Foundation: In keeping with its long-standing tradition of helping women succeed, the Talbots Charitable Foundation is proud to present the 2010 Talbots Scholarship Foundation and the inaugural Nancy Talbot Scholarship Award for perseverance and ingenuity, which is presented in memory of the founder of Talbots. This program empowers women to enrich themselves through learning and achieve a college education later in life. Click here for further information. The WEDC Foundation: The WEDC Foundation helps women make their dreams of economic independence come true. While over $100,000 in scholarships has been given to 57 women, the program is unique –more than money is given.
